I'm a long-time lover of nature and of hiking and so this scene really speaks to me. It is truly wonderfully done and taps into a nuanced appreciation for nature and soaking in all the little details of things. I would love to walk along this path in real life! 🏞🌱🌲🍀

I'm surprised you said this is just a quick mockup. Most people would take many hours to do something like this, or more likely several days honestly.

I am trying to draw pixel art daily. It's all about practicing, and it's a great way to prototype ideas faster. But yes, I have a few "more days" pieces, which are pretty complex.

This is fantastic pixel art, easily professional-level quality!

Regarding making your own JRPG game: I don't think you should dismiss the possibility so fast. If you keep the scope of it well enough under control (e.g. reusing art assets in a modular way, such as recolors and multi-purpose props and recombinable components) then I think you could do it.

Programming is not as hard as people think, especially if you avoid the more bloated engines and frameworks and languages.

In that regard, I recommend you look into Love2D (as a game library/framework/engine) and Lua (as the programming language). Lua is one of the easiest languages. It's whole reference manual for v5.1 is readable in one day (maybe ~100 pages?). Just ignore the part about binding to C and just use Love2D directly. Look at the site and I think you may be surprised how simple things can be. No worries though. Just a suggestion. Don't underestimate yourself!

Hello! I am a coder myself. (I finished and released the BZZZT game on Steam and Switch.) I work primarily in Unity and know how to make such a game. I just feel that I need to make a few less complex games first and make some financial bumper first. Doing JRPGs in free time while working elsewhere could be pretty exhausting.

The hybrid 3D and pixel art combo here is very compelling and this piece has a great cohesive composition and has just the right amount of items in the scene to strongly establish the feeling of the piece without making things too "noisy". I'll definitely add you to my follow list! This is fantastic 3D pixel art!

The animation here really does a lot with a little! The snow is just single color fading blocks of greyscale and yet looks so convincing and enlivens the scene.

The way the individual snow particles fade also creates a sense of depth and layering and thus the snowfall has a sense of depth and "distance fog" that many other snow animation scenes I've seen over the years subtly overlook.

Very skillful and compelling work! I will definitely follow you now!

The sense of perspective and foreshortening in this illustration are wonderful and really make the viewer feel like they are truly up high and looking down. It has a real sense of distance and scale.

The character, the glowing door, the rustic sense of age in the scene, the light beams, and the general atmosphere also work well to create a sense of implicit story and curiosity.

It makes me wonder what is going on and what the world is like.

I'd say you did a great job!

It reminds me of the kind of professional-grade concept art I used to see back when I worked at a AAA game company as a programmer whenever I saw work from the art department.

The artists there were amazing and this piece has the same hallmarks of great understanding of fundamentals and the principles of artistic composition and layout!

If this is original work (not traced) then I'd say you have the same potential and capability.

This is a really charming and well laid-out and textured model and I admire your work on it.

This style of low-poly 3D modeling also reminds me of Crocotile 3D (a low poly 3D modeling program), but of course could have been made in many others.

My two guesses are Crocotile 3D or Blender.

What did you use to make it (if you don't mind me asking)?
